Museo didattico della Seta Como and Lake Como

Paul Frank Silk Dress
- Made in China -

I wore my Paul Frank silk dress to the Silk Museum in Como today: What a perfect coincidence! This visit led me to understand that silk was very important to the Italians and it was not only a natural fiber taken from the silk worm that goes through a long process before being weaved together in a loom to create a lustrous fabric made in China. China was indeed not the only strong manufactures of silk because the Italians took a lot of time and experimentation in order to make fine silk fabrics for their couture styles.

My Silk Scarf Purchase of the Day
- Made in Italy -

As I was walking through the museum, I remembered reading about silk in Italy, in the book, Reconstructing Italian Fashion book: America and the Development of the Italian Fashion Industry by Nicola White. In the book, Nicola mentioned that there are many memorable Italian garments that were made of fine silk fabrics known to be a specialization of the Italian textile industry. The Italians used silk widely to design elegant dresses and using silk in many different ways by changing the texture, color, and pattern.  Innovation and creativity were in the Italians best interest and they are always looking to be admired as the fashion leaders.

Lake Como

Restuarant & Shopping Destinations in Como

Lake Como was how I visualized Milan to look like with houses dispersed throughout the tree-filled mountains with a lake view and architecture that is worthy of the gods and goddesses and envied by all mankind.  This is the place of attraction with all of it's natural beauty and charm.
