A Little Taste of a Fashion Magazine and Behind the Scenes with IED

Went to the place where fashion becomes the center of attention and transforms into a work of art that inspires readers of all kind: Vogue Italia. All the makings of a great binding of glossy paper forms to create a fashion look book of all trends from selected designers and styles that were thoroughly observed by people of the industry who make it their priority to satisfy their readers and fashion followers.

Met Senior Fashion Editor Sara Maino of Vogue Italia who explained the whole process and what it takes to issue the magazine in the first week of each month. It wasn't such a shock to me how much time was devoted to preparing a magazine and making sure that everything is done and finished before deadlines.  I find the art department of the magazine to be of my best interest because they are the ones who have the responsibility of graphically editing photographs, putting together layouts of pages as well as printing the pages that end up in the magazine.

The walls were filled with portraits of past photographs taken and the office walls were made with glass that was full of written comments and messages. There were magazines piled up along the walls and in every room and office that was passed. You can just feel the vibe that everyone was very focused and dedicated to their projects leading towards the ending results of the magazine; they live and breath their job and that is the kind of work that I want to pursue.

[Hats are a huge hit and significantly completes every outfit at the moment; in this case swimwear! This is my absolute favorite because there was inspiration drawn from the Vietnamese culture]

I had the pleasure of going to IED (International European Design School) and got to experience the work that is done at the school by viewing a photoshoot that was part of a project where graduate students are given a theme that is then used to create what would be in an actual pages of a magazine.
