Art vs. Fashion: Duomo de Milano (Climbing the Steps to Heaven on Earth)

ART:
Picture of marble carving of an angel that I stumbled upon when reaching the top
steps of Duomo de Milano which was a great piece of architectural structure dedicated to Santa Maria Nascenti.

There is so much history behind this cathedral built to reach the heavens. Read more of Duomo de Milano by clicking this link.

VS.

FASHION
A.F. Vandervorst, Fall/Winter 2011

The inspiration and overall theme of this collection has an equestrian feel. Harness-like belts are cinched at the low hip and left over fabric draped over the shoulder.

The similarity between the art piece and the fashion is the draping at the shoulder that goes down into a skirt. This is such a widely used sillouhoute used for dresses today and was worn widely by both men and women back in the Roman Empire.
